Revolutionizing the Candidate Experience: Intuitive Surgical's Digital Transformation with HappyDance.

Careers Site Goals

Intuitive Surgical approached HappyDance seeking an enhanced careers site to represent their mission-driven approach to minimally invasive care.

Celebrating over 25 years of innovation and leading the field in robotic-assisted surgery, Intuitive's goal was to showcase their 10,000+ employee-strong, global presence and the impact of their flagship product, the da Vinci system.

The key objectives were to elevate the candidate experience, showcase their unique culture, and bring their new employer brand to life in a compelling and engaging manner.

They also aimed to improve the functionality and insights from their careers site, which was hindered by limitations in their previous platform.

Careers Site Strategy

To achieve this, we initiated a cross-department collaboration at HappyDance, involving multiple teams and ensuring a flexible and communicative approach.

The focus was on creatively showcasing Intuitive's employer brand through dynamic messaging, photography, and a mix of motion graphics and videos.

Technically, we integrated personalization features, linked SmartRecruiters ATS for a seamless job search experience, and implemented custom solutions for Pay Transparency and job alerts.

The content strategy involved auditing the existing site, optimizing site architecture for candidate experience, and incorporating engaging elements like employee testimonials and videos.

Redesign Results

In the 30 days following the launch on 21st March 2023, Intuitive’s careers site demonstrated significant improvements:

  • Bounce rate decreased by 68.6%
  • Avg Session Duration increase of 228.7%
  • Page Views up 34.9%
  • Application completion up 39.8%

These results underscore the effectiveness of HappyDance’s comprehensive approach in enhancing Intuitive Surgical’s online candidate engagement and employer brand visibility.

Within such a short time of our new career site, we have received 61% more organic traffic, our visitor to apply bounce rate is down 68% and our average duration time on the site has increased 220%. To say I’m happy with the new Careers Site is an understatement. If I was a candidate I'd be super happy with the CX and the speed the pages loaded compared to our previous hosted site.
